Lincoln is the guy that attacked the South even though they posed no threat to the North. The northern states hated negroes just as much as evidenced by the NY city draft riots where negroes were attacked. Slaves were not used by the north not because they had a problem with slavery but rather because it wasnt economic. Northerner farm owners would have to pay for the upkeep of slaves during most of the year when temperatures were cool or cold and cost them too much money. Lincoln is also the first President to illegally suspend the constitution including the Writ of habeous corpus setting an incredibly bad precedent for future presidents. Lincoln should have been removed from office for this.
