Sign of the times: I have to re-tile my bathroom because of a plumbing problem. The tile guy said I was lucky to get him this fast because he had another job canceled because the tile was backordered. (I found out from his worker that the jobs are few and far between because no one is doing any remodelling right now. The only work is commercial work and that has slowed to a crawl.) He gave me the necessary information and I headed off to Home Depot where they only had samples - everything had to be ordered. So I went to 2 other tile speciality stores and ran into the same thing. Both had huge warehouses that were barely stocked. Accessories such as quarter rounds, liners and inserts were not available for anything they did have in stock. The tile guy had to drive 100 miles to a manufacturer to pick up some tiles they did have in stock - white only. Everything has to be specially ordered now because they don't keep anything in the pipeline.
