Mark ... was pro Israeli before the Jenin massacre..." Do not speak like Andrea Koppel. Who told you of a massacre ? Where is the proof ? Buried. Then we must wait. The UN will dig, we will know. Until then, fairness obliges us to stay put. Koppel can speak because it is her reputation that is at stake & gone. And I must add that I am very very surprized by her words. I thought she was miles above that level. Now if she believes that Israel is bound to die, that is fine, because it is only an analysis. Now, when the inqiery begins : here is what need to be done, (not that it will be done ):
Count as civilian killed people who are not able to fight against soldiers. Women, children, old people, people without weapons around.
Correct the numbers for those guys who could have collapsed the building onto them, willingly or not ( how to do it is another problem).
Then you have a figure. But it is not yet a massacre on purpose : if people did not leave their homes because they were scared, or because the local fighters did not let them do it, or because they preffered to die under it, or because they simply did not know what to do, or because they were deaf to the Israelis loudspeakers, they are not yet victims of a massacre. Unless you'd expect the Israelis to stop firing at the Palestinians guys shooting at them. For a massacre, you have to find proof, (not witnesses), of Israeli soldiers having shot scores of people already captured, or hostages. Like the Germans did on a daily basis.
Because if you do it the other way around, in France let's say, you end up with the Good Americans killing many more French civilians that the Ugly Germans doing World War II.
Only because the Good Americans bombed the train stations, and roads around the cities, to protect their own soldiers soon coming in !
Would you call them slaughterers... while the Germans were effectively protecting the French civilians against the US B 17 night raids bombs ?
May be some numbers will help :
Big city of Rouen, destroyed, thousands die. Caen 90% of houses totaly destroyed. Lisieux, 90% totaly collapsed. Le Havre same, Cherbourg, same. Many etc, if need be.
And we are talking big cities, here. Not Jenin. Above 100000 people for each, besides Lisieux. I lived around those cities, seen many pictures from that time.
Now, were the Americans wrong for doing that ? Tell me, were they wrong?...
And the Israelis ? What were they supposed to do in the current circumstances ? Tell me, I'd really like to know your opinion, Mr Johnson. |
