Dave -- Book-to-Bill: The headline number on the B-to-B could be deceptive this month: it may go up not because of strength in bookings, but instead because of weakness in billings. If billings deteriorate at a faster rate than bookings, then the B-to-B could actually go up, even if the dollar value of bookings declined. To say the least, this would be a bittersweet "win" for bulls; nonetheless, I have no doubt that if this scenario occurred, the bulls will be out tomorrow to pound the table!
Great couple of days for CIEN. That stock has a lot of hope in it, doesn't it? <LOL>
The Naz has actually impressed me a lot the past couple of days, grinding higher despite the weakness in the semis. That ORCL report really made people happy. Beats me why that's the case, since the Apps business is going to hell and the rosy forecast is based on a lot of business ORCL should have closed in Q4--. But, hey, the market likes what it likes. As for me, I'm looking over all of these pathetic pre-announcements from Europe and wondering what that does to our various "recovery" scenarios. |
