DALLAS, November 19 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:DIGI) announced today that GTE (NYSE:GTE) has selected DSC's Litespan(R)-2000, a Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier (NGDLC) product, as one of their standard systems for use in GTE's network. GTE currently uses other DSC switching and transmission products in its network, and Litespan will be the first access product that GTE has purchased from DSC.
"We are pleased to extend our alliance with DSC to include its Litespan product line," said Barry Paulson, GTE's vice president - operations planning and support. "Litespan will allow us to meet our current network requirements and quickly evolve to higher bandwidth services."
Terry Coss, vice president - national account sales for DSC, said: "This is good news for both GTE and DSC. The Litespan system has already been widely deployed by leading network operators. GTE's decision to standardize Litespan is another confirmation of Litespan's current and future value and of its industry-wide, world-class performance."
