More on TSMC/SMIC/SPSN triangle: eetimes.com Article: The deal raises questions about Spansion's foundry relationship with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC). Recently, Spansion and TSMC have expanded their ties, but TSMC is running little or no wafers for Spansion. me: The big difference seems to be the nature of the relationships. TSMC seems to be just a fabricator for SPSN while SMIC is a license holder and supplier of selected MirrorBit products to the China market. To me it looks like the SMIC relationship is a lot deeper than the TSMC one.
