Hi Kevin, I think you are referring to the difference in processors when switching between floating point and MMX instructions right? In that case the penalty for the switch is 56 cycles for the P55C, 2 clock cycles for the K6, and 1 for the M2. Except for this performance hit when switching between floating point and MMX mode, MMX performance should be similar in all three processors. The P55C has the higest issue rate at a maximum of two instuctions per cycle, but the K6 and M2 make up for it with smaller latencies for multiply and multiply-add instructions.
