I too enjoy the interchange of ideas. Here is something I saw on recent 10/2 Lehman report (which discussed the current chip/memory situation) but also speaks to the IDTI/C6 MPU potential opportunity:

"We believe the MPU market is very changed from 3 years ago, when INTC's (INTC-93 1/4; 2) market share bottomed and began to move up. Now, INTC's share is moving down. Some would argue that the 2Q97 EPS shortfall at INTC strictly resulted from INTC shooting itself in the foot (with regard to a mismatch of sales and production of MMXs); to the contrary, we argue that, if INTC shot itself in the foot, it did so trying to get the gun out of the holster to shoot AMD (AMD-27; 1). We see a similar issue with the recent Tillamook processor introduction and the 11/1 scheduled price cuts. We have little real visibility on INTC's current quarter results but chiefly we are concerned at the cross currents in the MPU market which may make for unusual volatility in MPU results during the next 18 months. We think others will grow to share our concerns and, in that environment, we no longer believe that multiples at INTC near term are going up."
