Founding Father Of Anti-Microsoft Movement Will Announce New 'War Room'
May 28, 1998

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK, May 27 /PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- The founding father of the anti-Microsoft movement, now a candidate for United States Senator from Florida, will hold a New York City news conference Thursday, May 28, to announce that the Committee to Fight Microsoft is establishing an international "War Room" to spearhead anti-Microsoft litigation activity and to protect computer consumers worldwide.

NEWS CONFERENCE DETAILS: DATE: Thursday, May 28

TIME: 11:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Sidewalk, 342 E. 67th Street, New York City

"When I established the Committee to Fight Microsoft in 1995," says Andy Martin, "we were the first and only consumer group to stand up to Bill Gates. I was the first lawyer to energize the use of state law to fight Microsoft and I filed consumer fraud charges with state attorneys general of all fifty (50) states. I have consistently and relentlessly pressed the Department of Justice to pursue vigorous action. How sweet it is to see what has flowered from our efforts.

"I am very proud to have been the first consumer advocate in cyberspace. Our first wave was to open people's eyes to the threat posed by Microsoft. Our second wave was to get government (to) take meaningful action. Thursday, I will announce 'the third wave.'

"The third wave will be the creation of a 'War Room' to spearhead anti- Microsoft litigation. The 'War Room' will ensure that never again will a totally ineffective deal be reached by government lawyers in secret with Microsoft lawyers, as the 1994-1995 antitrust settlement was. I opposed the 1995 settlement, and events have proven me right. The 'War Room' will act as an international clearing house to fight Microsoft.

"We will soon be announcing new steps to fight Windows 98.

"The creation of the anti-Microsoft War Room is an indication that the war against Microsoft is just beginning. The Committee to Fight Microsoft will continue to protect consumers from predatory behavior in cyberspace," says Martin.

On May 8, 1998, Andy Martin filed as a candidate for the United States Senate from Florida in the September 1, 1998 Republican Party primary election.
