<< I've talked to Brocade, they seem quite confident that they will release a switch capable of 2 Gb/sec by the time the other peripherals catch up, keeping them ahead of the `bottleneck' race. Where will that put Ancor if they have yet to officially release a `2nd generation' switch with Class 2/3 capabilities? >>

Check back in two weeks. Ancor is rumored to be introducing their 'new' switch within this time frame. Also, I believe Ancor had class 2/3 capabilities before.

<< "With the addition of Brocade's switch, Sequent will be able to address the needs of all customers, enabling our delivery of the most scalable, highly available and manageable switched fabric Fibre Channel environment available in the industry." >>

Are you saying that Class 1 is not more scalable than Class 2/3? Please help me here? Thanks...

When Ancor stated on their most recent press release that was talking about the WORLD'S LARGEST FC LAN...
<< "No other network technology -- including switches and hubs sold by
competing Fibre Channel vendors -- could handle this customer's size and performance requirements," he said. "Not only will our solution easily handle the peak demands of this very large network, but it also offers a graceful path to even higher Fibre Channel performance in the future. >>

Do you think they forgot to think about Brocade? Is it possible that Brocade cannot scale up as high as Ancor? Why would Ancor put in the 'including switches and hubs sold by competing Fibre Channel vendors' statement? Is it possible that Brocade could not supply such a network right now? Just simple questions...thanks.

Also, just wondering why you are so gung ho on Brocade (which I like also and will try to participate in their IPO if it is reasonably priced) now if there is no way to invest in them until mid-98!?? Isn't that about 9 months away? Are you a venture cap or do you work for an investment company that may help to take them public? Certainly, raging on and on about how they will sign SUN and many other OEMS NOW isn't the smartest thing to do to allow you to participate in a good IPO price? Just curious.

Thanks,
ALL IMHO
