You want a paradigm shift similar to IOMG? Try the slide rule-> electronic pocket calculator. HP came out with the HP-35 in 1972, TI followed, and within 3 years there were *0* slide rules being manufactured. Speed, accuracy, convenience, storage (try storing two numbers on a slide rule). Sounds like a ZIP. The early pocket calculators were quite a bit more expensive than slide rules, too.

BTW, anyone got a transformer (outlet adapter) for an HP-35? Mine died several years ago but I assume the 35 is still functional.

BTW-2. The non-electronic watch is not completely gone. I believe Rolex still manages to sell a few.
