As both Venezuela and Iran are oil-producing countries, and as Chavez and Ahmadinejad dedicated themselves against western imperialism, it should not surprise anyone they were very wellsy-palsy.

Dedicated themselves, while dragging their respective populations along with them through intimidation and coercion?

You see a lot of people clamoring to move to Iran or Venezuela right now to join their anti-imperialistic quest?

And do you think that maybe, just maybe, Iran has some imperialistic ambitions of it's own, via it's religious jihadist leadership? They certainly did their best to control events in Iraq.. It's to the point that nothing of consequence can be done in Iraq without the approval of Iran's Quds force commander, Qasem Soleimani.

I just try and imagine what either of those countries would look like without oil resources to subsidize their incompetent governments..

Another thing about "anti-imperialist" rulers/politicians.. They seem to have a knack for accumulating vast wealth for themselves and their immediate family members.

And then, for some, they want more.. so they basically unleash their own "flavor" of imperialism on their neighbors.. Some do even do it in the name of religion.. In Iran's case, as a Shi'a Jihad in order to prepare for the advent of the "Mahdi"..

As for Chavez? I think he was just another Latin America's famous "Caudillos", amassing great wealth for himself.. and trying to become more important than he really was.. And any importance that he possessed was solely the result of the oil lying in the borders of the territory he controlled.

These kinds of people are better at redistributing wealth, than actually creating it..
