Hi Allen: AmeriTrade can be had without being hamstrung with a
16 bit OS such as AOL tricks it's users into thinking is hot,
I can get any number of e-trade options and with
32 bit speed. BTW have you seen investor.com
go there and on the top line pick trading from the menu,
you can then hook up with any one of several e-traders
I've been using webBroker since last year, so this thing AOL
is doing is way behind time..like most of their stuff,
not only that a direct ISP hook up will blow AOL away for speed.
If your "not" dialed into AOL you can run at 32 bit speed using
win95, but if your on AOL your at 16 bit speed..thoes who have
not been outside the AOL loop don't realize the dif.
Encription is slow enough with out having to
do it via a 16 bit winsock..AOL sucks, while AOL talks of upgrading
and all that jazz, the vast majority of thier modems are still 14,400.. ...and with the winsock still hung up in 16 bits, it's pathatic.
But if you think thats great, well have fun poking along.
Jim
