I just got off the phone with one of my best friends. We worked together 20 years ago or so. She went off and married a Danish guy and they eventually moved to Denmark.

It was very interesting to see just how european Grace has become. Total liberal.

We talked about the UN climate thingie in copenhagen...she's going. Of course, I voiced my opinion on the whole global warming bullshit. Long story short....she hasn't even heard about the CRU scandal. I guess it's not surprising.

She's also having trouble with her husband....pretty close to divorce court. I asked if she would move back to the states if she got divorced...she said no. Two reasons, she really have become euro...but more importantly, she has early onset parkinsons (she is 44). If she moved back to the states she would have no coverage. In Denmark she has 100% coverage. She raved about the healthcare system there.

Granted, some people are really going to benefit from socialized medicine. If I were here, I would stay right there too. But, she also told me quite a few horror stories about the culture there that are just accepted. And I think that the culture that allows socialized medicine is also one that shrugs off personal responsibility. And this can have far deeper negative effects than not having free healthcare.
