At the risk of becoming a "boring" stock picker I will again go with v.sml next week.
In the coming week this stock has two significant events that will possibly be announced. It is therefore poised as a potentially great "swing" and "momo" play.
1) SLM's gas drill hole in Alberta should be declared a success next week as it was hitting multiple gas shows on 9 different horizons on the way down this month. The hole will be completed Saturday at the main zone as I understand and the "logging" should take place by Monday I hear. No doubt an announcement will follow immediately.
2) SLM has a 12 1/2% interest in a discovered oil field in Algeria that they and partners have drilled and it's other participant (none other than) BP has declared they will sell the field and have taken bids and closed the bidding on May 29/01. SLM will also sell their share. It is possible that the results of that bidding will be made known next week although it could take longer. It is accepted that they have 100,000,000 barrels in that well and possibly as high as 4-500,000,000 barrels. At $1.50 in the ground per BBL. SLMs share would indicate a value of from $ 2.14/share to $ 7.14/share. These calcs however could be debated ad nauseum r. The point is there is significant value there, it would appear.
Anyhow, thats my story Al and I'm stickin to it.
Thanks
C
