Tenchsatsu..."underestimation of Iraq"

You know, before we went into Iraq, I didn't underestimate it. I had two concerns at the time.

My first was...what happens if Saddam just pulls his troops into the cities and makes it a guerilla war? How many civilians could we kill and how long could we maintain a siege of the large cities like Baghdad and Basra before we started to look like a very ugly occupying force? That one didn't happen, but I still wonder how things would've turned out if it had.

My second concern was...what happens when we free the people of Iraq and the Shiites figure out that they are the MAJORITY?
Are they just gonna go along with Chalabi or whatever guy we put in place? How are the Sunnis gonna feel about all this? Are the Kurds gonna listen to ANYBODY after their 12 years of semi-autonomous rule that we've provided them?

The first situation didn't play out, but the second is playing out in spades and it'll be a long time before we know the end result.
