<< the Y2K hoax >> There is a similar effect that I'm researching right now that I am tenatively calling the "Y1999 effect". It appears to be a bug in the brains of certain Internet stock traders who, on January 1st, failed to register the change in year and as a result think it's still 1998. It's the only explanation I've been able to come up with for certain posts here on SI and elsewhere which continue refer to "Internet valuation" as some exceedingly high level.
