Bush Sr. promised to aid the Kurds if they would stand against Saddam. Then he abandoned them. GW wants folks in Iraq to stand against Saddam when we invade. How credible are we now after so many lies? The record strongly supports the judgment of Reagan insider James Webb, former Navy Secretary, one of the few critics of the war to gain a public forum. In the Wall Street Journal, he wrote that "this administration has dealt in extremes," favoring "brute force" over other means. Bush "relentlessly maneuvered our nation into a war" that was unnecessary. He chose to turn the country into "the world's Hessians," a mercenary state paid by others while "our society reels from internal problems" that the administration refuses to address.32 NOt only was that war, based on lies, unnecessary, but as it turns out, it was pointless. What happened there? anyway? Hundreds of thousands of Americans who fought there are now seriously ill. Oil fields were burned. It took experts a year to put out those fires. Now they're talking using nukes. IMO it's insane.
