On WWII analogies:

Gerald, thanks for this post and the preceding one.
It may have been wrong for me to bring this up in the
first place, but as you note, Mr. Bill started it all.
I was hinting at your view of the appropriate place for
MSFT in any WWII analogy in bringing up US+USSR in WWII but
I didn't have the heart to push it forward, and so laughed
off Reg's garbled "point in case". But I was wrong; WWII
was no laughing matter. Acknowledging anything positive
about the former S.U., even if it's as obvious as its
central role in defeating Hitler, is politically taboo
to many. Whatever our conflicts with Russia, it demeans
us all to dismiss their contribution, and the tremendous
human loss the Russians endured, in the war against Hitler.
Especially today.

Soberly, Dan.
