So, they are doing a public offering, but figuring that if they offer Excite instead of AOL shares that the market will not punish them. Besides, I always considered Excite the worst of the search engines. At a share price of 9, AOL will not be generating much from this, but they get to make Excite look weak instead of themselves. Why the calls? Don't you have long-term confidence in AOL's slide or are you more of a short-term trader? I don't mind holding my unprotected short position til the end of the century.
