None of that is new news.

Something of note I saw was:
"As of December 31, 1997, the Company had 1,006 full-time employees,
including 397 primarily engaged in research and development activities"

SAP supposedly has a total of 150 in R&D 'activities' but 100 of those are working on real basic functionality. Even if you assume i2 has a similar ratio (quite conservative) the count is 50 SAP engineers vs. 132 i2 engineers.
