The opinion isn't about "what's the libertarian idea", but about what the constitution says. The constitution doesn't insist that police knock. It insists on a warrant, these police had a warrant.

I think there is to much no knock swat type enforcement of laws, when it doesn't always have to be that way. But 1 - Its not a constitutional issue and the court is supposed to rule on the constitution, not the judges personal policy preferences, and 2 - As far as I know the specific case in front of the court wasn't a SWAT type paramilitary raid (but I don't really know for sure, if you have details about it, please let me know)
