><>..Barry, yes I believe that both passages refer to the same event..

Consider this; In Matt.12:22-30, the Pharisees were in fact speaking against Jesus, (in the Flesh as the Son of Man), and Jesus knew their thougts. He knew that they, the Pharisees, were likening Him to satan, as a matter of fact, saying that he was satan....Blaspheming Jesus( as the Son of Man), and that could be forgiven...Saying in effect, well you are either for me or against me

In V.31.."ALL manner of sin and blasphemy against shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.

Now consider the profound words of Jesus in the following:

Matt 12:32
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
(KJV)
Notice that Jesus said.."neither in the world to come"...does this mean that some sins Or ALL other sins can be forgiven in the world to come?
Why did He add that to the end of His sentence, wouldn't it have been understood without saying it..UNLESS...He was revealing something else...just thought provoking.....have you studied the reason for the 1000 year reign of Christ, and what the purpose is, and what goes on there?...."neither in the world to come"...is very revealing..Ez.44, more said on the millenniun in this chapter of God's word than any other.

Now back to your question.

Jesus was in v.25-30, making it absolutely clear that "you can say anything you want to me, about me, or against me"..papaphrased..
But to speak against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable...(remember) He added...neither in this world or the world to come...quite profound.!

Remember scripture says.."that Jesus knew their "thoughts"...so as to the unforgivable sin as I have shown it....even this event in Matt. lines up....Jesus you notice, does not in this account explain the unforgivable sin as He did in Luke 12:11-12, also notice.."teach you in that same "hour"...what hour?. (Rev.3:10..Rev.9:15.. Rev.17:12) and in Mark 13:11...
Why do you think that Jesus does not explain it to them....could it be because they are not of Him..John 8:44-47...Or for some other reason?

The unforgivable sin as I have shown is to me very clear, especially in light of Peter's explanation in Acts 2:14-21...more emphatically that "cloven Tongues" was a miracle of God at that time to show us what is to come again....and how so important it was in beginning His church...and at end times, (still to come)How cloven tongues will bring forth the gospel to them that are not yet save dand to the World who believe that the one standing in the temple of God saying that he is God,just prior to the return of Jesus, will hear the words of God spoken through those He chooses....if those people who are chosen for whatever reason refuse to allow the HS to speak through them....the miracle of God will be hindered...

Don't forget theses people who will be chosen know that the one they will be giving a witness to for Jesus is satan himself...and could become quite uneasy (to say he least)...or they just might believe that they have a "better" idea....or just get over anxious and use their own words...whatever the reason, it will be "Unforgivable"...and for an absolutely understandable reason...God is fair

And Barry it doesn't matter how long a person has been saved by the blood of our Precious Lamb....for that is all some are...knowing Him and the word of God is something extra....

And it is of No glory to God that some are "just" saved....
It gives me great joy to share knowledge of the word of God, we all have much to learn from one another....

Again, I trust that if you are still alive in the flesh just prior to the return of our Lord Jesus....the explanation of the unforgivable sin as set out in scripture by our Lord ... will become crystal clear to you....If not before.....my personal belief is that no one will commit this sin.....

I respect your beliefs in this matter

Talk to you later my friend
Have a blessed day
Shalom....><>
PS....many times we say things to people that may not have an effect on them at that moment...but..somewhere down the road if those words were the words of God..."life"...they will have a positive effect...Take heart my friend, you are a good witness...
