Tripp "had to know" that what she did was illegal? So it's OK to participate in illegal acts in Maryland as long as you say you "didn't know" they were illegal? Actually that IS true. But how can one prove Tripp did or didn't know? Most of us are aware that it's illegal to tape phone conversations without the other party's consent in some states but not in others. Seems reasonable to imagine that Tripp might have informed herself on that point. Last I heard the Maryland D.A. said no decision would be made on possible wiretapping charges until Starr had finished with Tripp.
