Doesn't this sound eerily familiar to what is happening in America today?

Jefferson is easy to quote about Banks. He loved farming and disliked cities. A total Populist. I am on Hamilton's side in this discussion.

We still don't and probably never will, have a stable, understood, money supply. To get closer to it will require more trial and error. That's because we don't have an underlying theory of money that works. We know a commodity money, such as gold, fails to handle expansion and contraction. A Fiat money is always run into the ground. So we stagger along, trying this and that, depending on which Pols have control. No State will ever turn the money supply over to private hands.
