We have a much better regulated system in the USA. And despite the Nikkei problems, the Japanese have lived well over those 10 years, and if it happens here, we will find a way to do so, too. There is an expression in Japanese - shitaka genai, that translates to don't worry about things you can't change. Loosely interpreted, it's their equivalent of s@%# happens.
