DecisionLink Inc. Wins Prestigious Award at Sensors Expo for OxySense 101 Non-Invasive Oxygen Detector and Places First Units With Leading Food and Beverage Manufacturers
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 2001--DecisionLink Inc. (OTCBB:DLNK) introduced its OxySense(TM) 101 at the Sensors Expo and Conference Spring 2001 in Chicago.
The OxySense(TM) 101 was the sole winner of the "BEST OF SENSORS EXPO" award in the "Special Materials" category as the first product to detect oxygen concentrations non-invasively inside food and beverage packages.
Following Sensors Expo, DecisionLink received orders for a unit from a well-known food company, and from one of the leading breweries in the country. These units are expected to be delivered in August of this year.
Developed in collaboration with the TNO Food and Nutrition Research Institute in the Netherlands, this product uses a proprietary oxygen-sensitive patch placed inside the package, and a fiber-optic probe connected to a read-out to determine oxygen levels in the parts per billion range.
Oxygen can be determined in either liquid or head-space. TNO estimates that there is a global market for several thousand units priced in the $15,000 range. There is a second application under joint development to incorporate this technology into food and beverage packaging lines.
The OxySense(TM) 101 has been developed for applications within the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. OxySense(TM) 101 was developed to replace expensive and destructive systems requiring penetration of the package to sample the contents. The unit's non-invasive methodology is much simpler to use and multiple readings can be made on the same sample over a period of time.
This reduces the number of packages needed to obtain good data for quality control while improving accuracy. The primary use of OxySense(TM) 101 is in food packaging and food research and development with the aim of reducing product spoilage from oxygen migration through the packaging material.

DecisionLink's environmental group has introduced small, low-cost sensor products for the food and environmental markets, as well as communication products that use satellite communications and the Internet as the backbone for data transfer and control in the pipeline leak detection, aboveground storage tank monitoring, oil production, water quality monitoring and industrial wastewater compliance monitoring and control markets.
DecisionLink's communications group has developed a wide range of products for monitoring of propane and fuel oil tank levels, pipeline compressors and many other multi-user remote asset monitoring applications for low-cost volume use of satellite communication pathways and the Internet.
