I'm not saying he was right, or that it was impossible that he lied. I just was pointing out that the charge that he lied was flimsy. The quoted statement was "US troops had mowed down Nazi SS troops during WWII". That statement wasn't a lie or apparently even incorrect (although the Dauchau massacre is somewhat disputed, which is why I add the "apparently")

He might have been talking in the context of a discussion about Malmédy. If so than the statement was most likely incorrect but since there was apparently an actual massacre like the one he described it doesn't seem reasonable to say he was lying. If he wanted to make a statement about a massacre it would be silly to lie about one when you could just mention another real massacre and have it properly fit your argument. Even if I wasn't particularly prone to give people the benefit of the doubt to charges that they are lying, it would be reasonable to conclude that he probably wasn't lying.

Did you see the video clip? Damn. You didn't even see the clip and you are defending O'Reilly.

Well,I did see it. And He specifically reverenced Malmédy. I wasn't saying he was lying per se. I was saying he is so pigheaded that even when he was told the right location, he continued to give out wrong info.

Unfortunately, the truth.....the rightness and honesty of things mean very little to your representatives. Hence, the new English word.....truthiness. If I were you, I would be embarrassed to have them as your reps.
