The reason for asking for the estimated yield and INTEL conversion to the .25 micron process was two fold :
ALEX BROWN estimates that INTEL produce 80 million microprocessors in the past twelve months using the .35 micron process . If the conversion is as follows:
50% will be .25 micron production in 1998 = 2.5 yield increase x 40 million = 90 million .25 microprocessors
+ 40 million .35 micron units
for a total of 130 million microprocessors produce in 1998 .
This is a consevative 50% increase in output - two items should happen - lower microprocessor cost due to increase volume and dramaticly increase profitibility for INTEL . Would like to hear your thoughts especially if I miss something .
