You can't sell a stock that is at ETRADE at DATEK.
I buy stocks at ETRADE that I plan on selling covered calls against.
DATEK WILL NOT deal with options at the present time so I use them strictly for trading certain stocks.
DATEK gives me real time quotes ETRADE doesn't.
DATEK comission is 10 ETRADE is 20. This mounts up over a years time if you trade a lot.
When I watch stocks sometimes there is only a small window when it meets the price that I want to pay. If I can't get logged on to one I can place the order with the other broker. If its a sell and their system is down you will probably miss it while you wait for the broker on the phone.
Everyone that trades has a horror story. If it hasn't happened to you yet it is just a question of time. Just remember that computer trading is so much better than a live broker. There are fewer mistakes.
DATEK notifies you about transactions immediately if you are on line and also send you EMAIL in case you busy doing something else.
