Hi wily,

Couldn't really rate the Nokia's since I haven't worked with them enough, but there are definitely some monitors out there that are big-time overpriced (even if they are good)...I wouldn't want to mention any names like Sony or anything though. :) The Mitsubishi Diamondtrons are nice too.

I had an ATI All-in-Wonder Rage Pro with an older box and although the TV-tuner was neat, the card itself wasn't worth the dollars involved (IMO). The problem with the separate cards is that it takes one more slot away. If Matrox does have a solution, by all means go with them. There's nothing that prevents you from using two card manufacturers, but there's no doubt that they do work better together when they're both from the same company.

21" is better for DVD simply for size. I have a Toshiba SCSI DVD with one box at home using a 19" and it's ok, but the extra 2" would be nice. Two or three of them for trading is a bit much though.

As far as reading material goes, I couldn't tell you. I rarely have time to actually read consumer computer magazines because of all the magazines. Some of the resellers and distributor magazines are ok, but working with them on a daily basis is the best thing. Sorry I can't recommend anything on that front.
