BEA Wins CRN E-Star Award Second Year Running for Successful Partner Program, Market Leadership and Superior Technology
BEA WebLogic Server Named Winner in Application Server Category
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jun 28, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS chart, msgs), one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, today announced that CMP Media Group's CRN magazine has selected BEA as a CRN E-Star for the second year in a row, honoring BEA WebLogic(R) Server, the world's #1 Java application server, with the top honor in the Application Server category. The award recognizes BEA's market-leading software, superior technology innovation, and success in supporting its business partners through the BEA Star Partner Program.
The article announcing the 2001 E-Stars, published in the June 7, 2001, issue of CRN, noted that, "When the market for Java-based application servers finally ignited last year, BEA Systems found itself at the center of the explosion. ... BEA ... has steadily built its business and continued to fare well amid the downturn in Internet spending." The writer concluded that, in spite of stiff competition, BEA has "a consistently solid, open platform and broadening channel."
The CRN E-Star Awards recognize "emerging software categories in the e-business arena and the pioneering companies developing software for the Internet economy." One winner was chosen in each of 10 categories, including application servers, Internet security software, CRM applications and supply chain management software. Contenders were selected according to market share and input from solution providers, analysts and other industry sources. To determine the winners, CRN editors examined vendors' financial performance, roles as technology innovators, and strength of presence in the solution provider channel.
CRN applauded BEA's next-generation partner initiative -- the BEA Star Partner Program -- which is enabling the market leader to better serve its partner community and, ultimately, its customers. The BEA Star Partner Program, which boasts more than 2,000 partners including the world's top system integrators, independent software vendors and application service providers, also recently won Software Business Magazine's second annual Software Industry Award for the Best Partnering Program. And a recent VARBusiness article on BEA, titled "The Next Great American Software Company," said that BEA "might be the best vendor to partner with today."
