[What's in a name?]

<<<The name Amati was chosen by Cioffi, as people close to him had said he created an Amati. An Amati is a violin of excellent quality and heritage.>>>

Ame means the spirit or soul in French. Ami is friend. Either one connected to ti is fine with me. :)

Though John Pollard's more accurate in saying Amati's come to stand for bandwidth and to that end I'm all for leaving the name as is.

If Amati succeeds in convincing TI to keep its name on the technology, the thread may survive without any need to explain.

And you're right about the cadre of friends we've developed and the ease with which we can drop by and ask a question --- or share something we've found --- and know we'll get a response if not within a couple hours then certainly in a day or so.

Vive l'Amati!
