hi former joe you can always keep the startup cops around just to compare what services they oversee, compared to msconfig. startup cop's GUI is a little cooler, though msconfig gives you all kinds of boot options and selective start ups. btw, thanks for the windows critical update heads up the other day. i do not have the option selected for auto update. i prefer to go searching that stuff out manually... little update on the prairie-style. :) mark
