The hole was extended 40% beyond the target of 250 m, and the core is the largest possible diameter, which accounts for the time to drill the first hole.

The hole was extended to ensure that the full thickness of the mineralized zone was penetrated. As noted in the November 19 1995 news release, the thickness of the zone where penetrated by DDH 1 is about 320 m.

Large diameter core was sought because the larger the volume of rock sent for assay the more reliable are the ore grade and tonnage calculations. So, Goldstake is using a Longyear 38 rig and PQ drill rods which produce a 4" drill core. A triple tube assembly is being used which ensures that 100% of the core material is recovered. This type of drill rig and configuration is typically only used at the mine development or production level.

The program includes a two regional exploration programs. Elsewhere on the Java KPs a 40-man field crew is at work mapping future drill holes following on the current 25-hole program. Plus a six-man crew is doing the ground work for drilling on the Kalimantan COW.

The Web site is under construction and should be up in the next three to four weeks. In the meantime you can read GXP news releases on the Canada News Wire site.
