Corey,

Sorry for responding after so many days. Alphanet (FAX) is going to be an absolute killer stock very shortly. They have demonstrated the technology successfully to route regular phone/fax calls down through the internet, and then pop back up in the city you are calling. Imagine this.

You dial a long distance number on your REGULAR telephone. It gets routed down through internet. It pops up in whatever city you are calling. The REGULAR phone of the person you are calling rings. They answer it. YOU BOTH TALK JUST LIKE YOU NORMALLY WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is different than "internet phones", which are more like walky-talkies, with both parties having to agree to be on-line at the same time.
THE UPSIDE OF THIS IS ASTRONOMICAL!!!!!!!!! Millions of long distance users will be able to use this technology.....individuals and companies.
Alphanet has patented the propiatory technology in MANY different countries already, and has it all but locked up.

Here is their latest release, just from last week. The shares took a good jump on the news, but have settled back down nicely. I'm buying in more this week. Here's the release:
AlphaNet Telecom Inc FAX
Shares issued 8,363,780 Sep 25 close $21.25
Thu 26 Sept 96 News Release
Mr Michael Reichmann reports
With a family of leading international service providers, AlphaNet will
launch AlphaNet Mondial early in 1997 to users worldwide, offering them
significant savings over telecom rates charged by traditional telephone
carriers.
Commencing with service to more than a dozen countries, AlphaNet Mondial
will allow subscribers worldwide to call any telephone or fax machine,
anywhere in the world, and at a fraction of what they currently pay. And
unlike conventional Internet telephone systems, AlphaNet Mondial uses
standard telephones and fax machines.
AlphaNet Mondial Uses Standard Phones, Fax Machines
Unlike other voice over Internet (VOI) products, which generally provide
computer-to-computer communication aimed at the hobbyist, AlphaNet Mondial
voice service will be available to the many millions of global users of
ordinary telephones, while fax service will operate via standard fax
machines. And they'll get these services without sacrificing voice quality
or ease of use.
AlphaNet Mondial's unique advantage lies in its use of Internet Protocol
(IP) standards for the transmission of voice and fax over data networks.
The inherently low cost of these digital networks, combined with AlphaNet's
proprietary compression technology, allows the company to transport voice
and fax calls at a considerable price advantage over traditional voice
networks.
AlphaNet has secured IP network facilities from Global One, a worldwide
venture of Sprint, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom. Their backbone
networks will provide transport of AlphaNet Mondial traffic on an
international basis.
AlphaNet Mondial is Simple to Use
AlphaNet Mondial users make a phone call by dialing the telephone number of
the person to whom they wish to speak, causing the target telephone to ring
in the ordinary way. The person called will be unaware the call is being
carried over an IP network. AlphaNet Mondial's digital technology offers
exceptional call clarity, so calls sound virtually identical to those made
over standard long-distance networks.
AlphaNet Mondial can be used by anyone who makes international telephone
calls or who sends faxes overseas. Large, medium and small companies, as
well as individual consumers, will benefit from the substantial savings
AlphaNet Mondial will offer. The company anticipates being able to offer
service at a fraction of the price charged today by the major long-distance
carriers.
AlphaNet Mondial was demonstrated for fax service in January 1996. By July
1996, a North American demonstration system for voice calls was introduced,
and now a multi-country demonstration system is providing service to a
number of countries in North America, Asia and Europe. AlphaNet has 50
international patents related to its telecommunications technology, and
both granted and pending patents apply to AlphaNet Mondial.
AlphaNet has signed memoranda of understanding with major partners in
Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and other
countries. Arrangements with partners to distribute AlphaNet Mondial in
additional countries worldwide are under negotiation. Marketing in North
America will be through a variety of channels, and conducted in concert
with one or more significant marketing partners. AlphaNet will also be
working closely with domestic telephone companies and long-distance
providers in terminating their international traffic.
