When do you feel bandwidth will be great enough? Did you know the RCA
Satellite dish will soon be able to download off the internet at
a wideband rate. LSI makes the chips for the RCA Satellite system.
Also the wideband networks that are being created right now at a tremendous
rate by the networking companies? 30% of LSIs business comes from
networking equipment. LSI has its hand in all the hot growth areas. It is
even in the running for DVD. Every hot high tech area that has potential it
seems LSI is there as a frontrunner.

Now in regard to whether the internet box will sell, I think it will depend
on how good the advertising is at making people feel its easy to hook on, and that
its worth it. I think if companies like Microsoft and Dreamworks can create
some attention grabbing spots on the internet that are linked with live events it could be
helpful. Also I think more good ideas like home pages for radio stations that people
listening want to be more a part of the program could lead to increased demand.
As to whether they go for a computer or a box, I think some people who may be afraid of
how to use a computer or not sure they need a computer, might have an easier
time buying a user friendly box, if it sold well in the advertising. You are right about
people going for the fastest computers that come out. I wonder how fast the LSI chip is. I thought
I read that it is quite a bit faster than the Pentium Pro. Also I wonder if the internet
box will have a hard drive.

It will be interesting to see what happens. There is a great news
article on LSI on their home page www.LSILogic.com, that was in the
the San Jose Mercury on 2/5/96.
