Among Canada's 50 Best Managed Private Companies (Dec 13/97)

The company has the best solution
to the 'Millenium Bug'

[Montreal, December 13, 1997] A dynamic expansion
helped Informission Group Inc., an information
technology firm with roots in Montreal and Quebec,
become part of Canada's 50 Best Managed Private
Companies. These are the results of a prestigious
coast to coast program in which 775 firms participated
in 1997. The program is organized by Mallette Maheu
and Arthur Andersen, in collaboration with the
Financial Post, the CIBC, Canadian Airlines and the
Groupement des chefs d'entreprise.

Informission Group Inc. is an information technology
company unlike any other. On top of traditional
services such as implementing and optimizing
information systems, the company offers its own
software solutions and operates eight re-engineering
centres on two continents. Moreover, the expertise of
its 200 specialists can be multiplied by their network
of international partners, which went from one to
eleven in the last ten months. This network gives it
access to the expertise of more than 15 000
professionals to serve clients world-wide.

"We developed an integrated solution that allows
corporations to adapt their systems to the year 2000",
says President Jacques Topping. " This solution, named
RECYC2000TM, was ultimately chosen by several clients,
as well as some of the biggest consultancies of North
America and Europe ", he explains, adding that "the
commercialization of RECYC2000TM gave a big boost to
our efforts on foreign markets".

In 1996, Informission Group invested more than 10% of
its wages bill on training, an impressing level even
by the computer industry's standards. In 1990, the
company created the Lyc‚e Informission, a permanent
training structure for employees as well as clients.

Such an emphasis on training, along with numerous
incentives for its staff to improve their skills,
probably explains why Informission Group benefits from
one of the lowest personnel turnover in its sector.

Moreover, employees all have access to the resources
of three centres of expertise that constitute the
company's knowledge base: the Object-Oriented
Integrated Solution Centre, the Client-Server
Expertise Centre and the Year 2000 Competency Centre.

"Our reputation for rigor and quality is gaining
ground", says Mr. Topping. "Last year, we were granted
120 contracts out of 198 service-proposal offers,
which is excellent in our industry", concludes the top
executive. Last October, Informission acquired a firm
of telecommunications engineering, a market it intends
to develop in the years ahead.

The program's objective is not to highlight the
achievements of a particular executive but to pay
tribute to the quality of a company's management as a
whole. The program's principal criteria are employee
motivation, exceptional customer service and
innovative commercial methods. Canada's 50 Best
Managed Private Companies distinguish themselves by
creating jobs and increasing their market share as
well as their financial stability.
