Who is really surprised by this drop in the market? Investment strategies don't count for much when we let ourselves get carried away against our better judgements. Yes, it's depressing to see stocks we don't own ( or have sold) go up and up for over a year. But is it any better we stay in them at ridiculous valuations and even buy more?
More important than trading techniques,I believe, is listening to the little voice ( actually, the pretty damn loud voice) that tells you, "This can't go on."Don't you wish you had listened to that voice and hedged, or reduced positions or moved to bonds/utilities? Too late now. I am sure that practically anyone who reads this knew that he/she was taking a big chance in the last few months.
