Don't know much about the specifics of the palladium industry, but it may be that the real issue is the nature and extent of the geological resources at Noril'sk. Follow the money. As palladium prices track (and sporadically exceed) platinum prices at a healthy premium to gold, the Russians will find a way to mine it. Whether and how it comes to market is a different issue -- remember, another one of Russia's best exports is chess players. Ptask
