Hi,

If your sound card is a Creative AWE64, it should have come with a Creative CD-ROM that contains certain driver files for DOS.

If you install Windows 95 or Windows 98, they both have native support for AWE64 cards. So you don't have to install drivers in Windows, since the OS takes care of everything itself.

That said, if you want to restart your system in DOS mode, you have to have certain drivers loaded in the CONFIG.SYS, and some commands need to be executed from the AUTOEXEC.BAT.

The SETUP.EXE file from the Creative CD-ROM should perform this task for you automatically. It will update the Windows drivers, and install the proper DOS drivers for you.

If you don't have the CD-ROM, you should:

1) Complain to Gateway, and demand that they supply you with one.

2) Confirm the exact model of your sound card, go to Creative Labs website, and get the new drivers files directly. You may have to spend some time reading some README.TXT files for installation procedures though.

Good luck,
