Automatic ID refers to techniques such as barcoding to identify an item without human involvement, is the way I would put it. PTNX obviously is in the game with barcode printers. You might look at

where the fellow (Russ Adams) who is I think Tech Editor of the mag runs a site devoted to barcode companies. You can subscribe and get home delivery also for the Automatic ID Newsletter.

PS - Name something that isn't barcoded these days!!!
