micropicker: ASRF again some news given me by a friend. "The Muskokan" May 21, 98: A long article in this summer weekly on the 'Minicar or Junior Jeep" with a couple of pictures. Title "Fuelled by a dream: company develops clean energy source" Two goals: Revolutionize the auto industry and clean energy for heating homes and running appliances. Carr (Carr Conversions in Huntsville, Ontario) has driven an electric car which runs on 14 six-volt deep discharge batteries for six months. This car was built by Rama Wheel Corporation in Orillia, Ontario and Carr drove it for 60 to 70 KM before recharging the batteries in four hours. A new company "Astris Technoogy Corp" was formed in Orillia, Ontario to develop and commercialize the fuel cell technology. This company built and is demonstrating the Minicar which runs for 8 hours on a 3 inch by 16 inch bottle of hydrogen which takes a few seconds to refill. Carr is considering converting his car to Astris alkaline fuel cells. Astris Technology plans to start working on a full sized AFC powered car this year.
