Why would any company want to buy NOVL?

1. Rapidly declining market share. Pick an industry survey (gartner group, idc, etc... ALL agree to this.)

2. Unloyal customer base. Look at how many of them either have Windows NT, or are evaluating them.

3. Reseller channel is a disaster, as they have been leaving in droves to sell competitive products.

4. Book value (big unknown, but earlier comment in this thread of $5.50) Does anybody out there think it is even close to the current selling price?

5. Software doesn't run NATIVELY on high-end systems, previous attempts have been shelved (specifically HP PA-RISC). Why, could it be that there is no market for it, or is it just too hard to do, or is the software a dog? Any/all of these reasons look bad.

6. Increasing pressure from emerging standards that have larger industry acceptance. (Netscape, Sun, Microsoft)
