Digital Angel responds to the USA's BSE scare 5 Jan 2004 Digital Angel Corporation says it is ready and able to help, following the recent 'mad cow disease' (bovine spongiform encephalitis, or BSE) scare in the USA. It has an FDA-approved technology for identifying, tracking, and tracing cattle, and monitoring their health. The company's Destron Fearing division has been working with USDA since the Canadian BSE announcement in 2003. According to Digital Angel, the technology is ready for the US Department of Agriculture plan to implement as part of its national livestock ID programme. The system includes RFID (radio frequency identification) implantable microchips, e.Tags, scanning systems, bio-sensors, and software for automated data collection.
