Unrelated But Wistfully Connected News:

Que dijo? Say what?

On November 12 Computer Associates announced the creation of a new division
dedicated exclusively to the growing Internert/intranet market that will be known
as NetHaven. According to Venkat Subbarao, general manager of NetHaven, the
new division will offer comprehensive Web development, deployment, content
hosting, and management services, and deliver all the necessary hardware,
applications, and connectivity tools.

The Gartner Group reported recently that there is a 30% chance that Computer
Associates will soon become a top software vendor, a 60% chance that CA will
make headway with some of the bigger IT customers by continuing to acquire
companies to maintain momentum, and only a 10% chance that CA will be
body-slammed by Microsoft and IBM.

Computer Associates' CEO, Charles Wang, was recently asked whether he
planned any more acquisitions. His reply was "Oh, yes. We look for key
technologies, key technical people, key distribution, and key customer
bases. We will combine the acquired technologies with internal
development and partnerships."
