Yes, information is power.

If he were alive, the media would be blasting us with crap like, "Former U.S. Senator Ted Stevens bravely survived a disastrous plane crash in the rugged Alaskan mountains last night! Survivors and rescuers reported that the 86 year old Stevens, although seriously injured, calmly took charge of the situation and organized first aid efforts for the remaining survivors as they waited for the Coast Guard to arrive. One survivor referred to Stevens' actions as 'heroic'."

Now, the "authorities" and his family are trying to figure out how to spin what actually happened since Stevens is probably dead, hence the delay of the "official" confirmation. They want to milk this for all it's worth.
