I think we should all seek to minimize harm at all times
That sounds like selective abortion....the creation of what you might consider a perfect race. A nut with similar aspirations started a world war not long ago.
Who decides what harm is???? A Borg/Collective government? Do we really need another "official" list, only this time the list determines who must die?
There are a lot of stories about disabled children being raises in loving homes. Believe it or not, there are homes that do quite well with out the "help" of social workers.
It has been said on this thread that gays have been part of humanity since the beginning. I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you, but there have been disabled with us for just as long.
A recent study showed parents who had adopted kids, when adjusted for all other factors, tended to not have as much proactive intervention as natural parents. So the answer is to kill them pre-birth? Native Indians, by percentage, have a much higher rate of children born with
alchohol related problems...would you force abortion on them to HELP with the problem?
Opponents of the death penalty claim it is better to not kill any killers than to take a chance on putting an innocent person to death, yet in the same breath a lot of them propose killing the non-perfect human fetus, or any fetus for that matter. Why is it they won't give the same consideration to the unborn? Shouldn't they get a chance too? Some of these same individuals propose killing the unborn because of constrictions a child would have on the mothers lifestyle......an inconvenience.
A caring society cares for its' ill. Somehow perception of society has been changed....a lot of people now think that the only thing of importance is for some govt employee to be throwing money at perceived problems and social ills while some beaurocrat is getting their picture taken.
Is it OK, in your view, for the fetus in the Asian culture to be aborted because it is female? A simple question that needs a one word answer.
