Novell and Broadvision partner

Integration Will Accelerate Deployment and Lower Total Cost of Ownership

SAN JOSE, Calif. and REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ --
BroadVision Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN), the leading worldwide supplier of
personalized e-business applications, and Novell Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVL) today
announced plans to provide BroadVision One-To-One(TM) applications with the
ability to leverage Novell's NDS eDirectory. This solution will allow
BroadVision customers to access and store user profile data in NDS eDirectory.
Novell is working with BroadVision to enable customers to choose NDS
eDirectory as the primary store for user profile information in BroadVision
applications to provide secure authentication and access to employees,
customers and partners.
By integrating BroadVision applications with NDS eDirectory, organizations
will experience a lower total cost of ownership, and accelerated deployment
and improved network management. Users will be given a single point of access
to applications -- for improved self-service and eliminating multiple logins.
Security and administration is also streamlined, and IT managers will have
single-point management of user's profiles and network resources.
"BroadVision is interfacing to eDirectory because our customers will
benefit from being able to store personalized information in a common
directory that can be used to provide a single point of management and access
control," said Eric Golin, CTO of BroadVision. "We recognize Novell's
leadership in standards-based directory software, and look forward to working
together to deliver highly scalable and secure solutions to our customers."
This integration speeds time to market for e-business applications by
allowing Novell customers to leverage their existing eDirectory infrastructure
within BroadVision. BroadVision customers will also be able to extend their
solutions to personalize a broader range of user experiences, such as
personalized network response times based on user profiles.
"We are pleased to be working with BroadVision to integrate eDirectory
with its e-business applications," said Carl Ledbetter, Novell senior vice
president for business and corporate development. "In this fast-growing
Internet economy companies need a strong foundation for managing their
business across many internal and external networks. Using a highly integrated
directory solution, BroadVision users can automate business processes for
lower total cost of ownership."
The ability to access Novell NDS eDirectory as the primary data store for
user profile information will leverage the industry standard LDAP interface.
Novell's directory based professional services will enable customers to deploy
NDS eDirectory as their BroadVision user profile data store.
Novell's cross-platform NDS eDirectory is the foundation for eBusiness
solutions that extend beyond the firewall to reach customers and partners on
the Internet. As a standards-based directory solution, NDS eDirectory enables
real-time user profile management and security, even beyond the firewall to
customer and partner networks.
