In science falsity gets "attacked", it doesn't matter that falsity didn't attack first.
If those disputing a theory are wrong... then they eventually get proven wrong. No big deal.
OTOH, wacko creationists attack evolution and scientists ALL THE TIME, even some of though their OWN ideas are easily falsifiable and their "science" is laughable.
Go figure. Looks like people will be people, as I said before, it appears YOU are the one putting these folks on a pedestal.
